Doing our bit for the environment
The Isle of Wight is one of the sunniest places in the UK averaging over 1800 hours of sunshine per annum (over 5 hours a day).
We have installed 78 of the very latest solar panels on to the roofs of our 7 new holiday units covering 127 square metres, generating 19,170 KWh (Kilowatt hours) per annum and saving 11,477kg of CO2 emissions per annum.
OK so that’s what the ‘techies’ say but what does it mean?
Just 1 KWh could power….
– a full cycle of a washing machine
– 3 hours of TV
– 48 hours on a laptop
– 10 boils of a kettle
….so just imagine what 19,170 KWh can do!
And that’s just our holiday units. In 2018 our indoor riding arena will have a further installation of solar panels delivering power to a battery unit capable of lighting the arena and surrounding car parks, roads and paths all year round.
