You arrive at Island Riding Centre (IRC) in the afternoon or will be met at the ferry terminal (if on foot) and transferred to IRC to check in to your accommodation. Induction and 30 minute assessment lesson with one of our qualified instructors and meet the horses to find the most suitable for your ability (unless bringing your own horse) and discuss your goals for the weekend ahead.
Saturday & Sunday
Two riding sessions one in the morning and one in the afternoon consisting of either a lesson or a trail/beach ride which is tide dependent.
In the morning everyone participates in catching (if necessary), feeding, grooming and preparing the tack for their horse for the day ahead. Experienced handlers are on hand for the less experienced riders.
Lessons: 1 hour group lesson in dressage or show jumping with maximum of 4 in a group. Private lessons are available for 30 mins as an alternative or a supplement for 45 mins to 1 hour.
Trail Ride: If a morning, then after breakfast in your accommodation you will be transferred to your chosen trail at 9.30am. A two hour hack will give you the opportunity to enjoy safe off-road riding and enjoy the spectacular scenery the Isle of Wight has to offer. Transfer back to IRC. If an afternoon ride then departure time will be 1.30pm. You will be free to make your own lunch arrangements either back in your accommodation or visit one of the local eateries.
Beach Ride: Departure will depend on prevailing tide times so can be an early start. You will be transferred to a local beach where your 90 minute ride will either follow or be followed by a cooked breakfast close-by before transferring back to IRC. Afternoon beach rides will have afternoon tea as an alternative to a cooked breakfast.
Before the day ends you may assist with un-tacking your horse before turn out.
As above but with trail and beach ride being reversed.
Depart around 5pm for the ferry terminal.
Itineraries are for guidance and may be altered to suit the weather and tide times.
