The Isle of Wight’s latest attraction, the Island Riding Centre held an Open Day on Sunday 2nd July from 11 to 4pm in Staplers Road, Newport.

The Centre which aims to attract Island and mainland visitors all year round has already completed the construction of a 60m x 40m outdoor fibrewax sand school and stable yard allowing the riding school to open for lessons from 2nd July. They will be offering discounts to Isle of Wight residents and an opportunity for riders of all ages and abilities including first-time or returning riders to get in the saddle with individual and group lessons as well as Summer camps for juniors and adults, kids clubs and own a pony experiences. The livery yard will open for guests later this year and include a number of features including a horse walker and solarium.

A brand new holiday complex will open in August this year and an indoor riding arena with shops and restaurant is already under construction in readiness for next Easter.

The Open Day was an opportunity for Islanders to find out what we’ve been up to, have a look round and see the future plans whilst enjoying some refreshments, pony rides and a bouncy castle.

Team members were on hand to introduce the horses, discuss individual riding requirements and qualifications to work towards.
