We are thrilled to announce that our groom, Angel Passmore has received the High Sheriff of the Isle of Wight Award for her outstanding dedication to learning and progression in her career.
Angel has completed her studies with the HTP Apprenticeship College and Island Riding Centre and is now a full time groom with us – she has worked her socks off, she came to us as a shy and dedicated young person who has blossomed into a confident and personable groom.
Our partnership with HTP Apprenticeship College is one that is going from strength to strength, Ofsted inspected Island Riding Centre during the Autumn 2019 term and the inspectors report was as follows – “Learners learn and practice a wide range of practical skills in horse care. They benefit from high quality commercial standard resources and well qualified staff”. This was a glowing report of our services, quality, facilities and care provided to Island young people.
Louise is over the moon that Angel has been awarded this recognition, “We are really keen for our students to develop their skills and have a focus and goal. There are not many places on the island where this amount of equestrian opportunity happens and our passion at Island Riding Centre is to help the Island’s youth grow, gain experience and achieve great things.”
While the High Sheriff was with us, a horse enthusiast herself, she had the opportunity to ride Donald – our 17.2 hh Clydesdale who is a gentle giant and very partial to a trebor or two!
The Equine industry covers a wide range of areas including: riding schools, livery yards, competition yards, racing yards, clubs and hunts, instructors, working horses and studs and with it a number of employment opportunities and who knows you could end up running your own stable yard or equestrian business or becoming a riding instructor.
